The cGP Lab Ltd (TCL), based in Auckland, New Zealand is dedicated to developing cGP products that provide exceptional health benefits.

For decades, researchers globally have been investigating ways to improve the function of human Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) without over-stimulating or inhibiting it. As a hormone, too much or too little of IGF-1 can be detrimental to health. The role of cyclic Glycine-Proline (cGP) in normalising IGF-1 function, provides a novel solution to improve and maintain our general health.

cGP is an essential molecule, critical to healthy ageing. The function of cGP is to support IGF-1, that plays a key role in small blood vessel production. With age, a natural decline of IGF-1 increases the need for cGP. However, the body’s production of cGP is no longer sufficient to meet these increasing needs. Low levels of cGP have been associated with brain ageing, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases.

20 years ago, neuroscientist Dr Jian Guan made a path-breaking discovery on the mechanism and the critical role of cGP in IGF-1 regulation. Through ongoing research, she discovered high levels of natural cGP in NZ Blackcurrants and that cGP supplementation, offered the potential to off-set the age-related decline associated with low IGF-1 levels. In collaboration with Dr Guan, TCL began a two-year research project to develop the world’s first and only commercial product delivering natural cGP. Successfully launched in 2019, this product is now known as cGPMAX® Brain Health.

Since then, TCL has and continues to develop a range of products to target specific health concerns. These products use varied natural sources that are high in cGP and consistently deliver the recommended daily dose. TCL has two novel patents pending in 30 countries covering the mechanism and applications of cGP, as well as the ability to extract cGP from all natural sources including, plant, animal, fungi and marine.
